We speak to Lisa Holton from Talent Sydney about her time at Talent and the advice she would give to those looking to pursue a career in Recruitment.
How long have you been at Talent?
3 months, in this short time Talent has already made such a positive impact on my life and career direction.
Tell us about why you become a recruiter?
I have had a couple of great experiences with recruiters in the past who have helped make finding a job a positive experience. This inspired me and made me realise I wanted to pursue a career in recruitment.
What do you enjoy the most about working for Talent?
The supportive and friendly team and culture. Everyone here is welcoming and down to earth which makes Talent such a positive and fun environment to work in, even on those challenging Monday mornings!
Tell us about your team?
The team is collaborative, supportive and welcoming which has made the transition very easy. They’ve made me feel part of the team and inspire me to do better every day.
What makes you a good recruiter?
A great and supportive team like the people here at Talent, motivation and networking to gain exposure to other agencies and organisations and grow your connections. These opportunities have helped my recruiting skills improve and become a ‘good’ recruiter.
What sets Talent apart from other recruiters?
Talent doesn’t have the competitive nature that other agencies have. At Talent we work together as a team and help each other out whenever we can. This adds to the amazing and supportive culture. Talent also gives back to the community, our foundation Talent RISE is dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth find employment and recently we participated in OzHarvest and Talent Day where we devote a day to support local charities.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I would like to be a part of the expansion and growth of the Talent brand globally as a Candidate Manager and set new achievements.
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their career?
My advice to them would be for them is to be a sponge and try and absorb new knowledge and experiences from others. It’s also important to get as much exposure as possible to different styles and approaches so that you can eventually see what works best for you so that you can fulfil your job to the best of your potential!
